Teri - Lace can be more difficult to store because it is more delicate. Be sure the bag or box it will be stored in does not have anything it can snag on, and try to keep the dress hung so it will not wrinkle as much. A cedar closet is fine, but be aware that the dress may pick up some of the cedar scent and will need to be thoroughly cleaned or aired before the wedding. Best wishes!

Keep it hung if possible, and be prepared to have it cleaned and pressed before the wedding. If possible, avoid handling the dress between now and when it is needed for alterations and fittings -- the less it is handled, the cleaner and fresher it will stay.

-- Contributed by: teriI have the same problem as Melanie. My daughterâs wedding is May 2009 and we already found the perfect dress. Now Iâm very nervous on how to store it until then at my home. Iâm having nightmares about it now...any suggestions. Thanks...M
Melanie - If you already have the dress in your possession (not on order), you should take steps to keep it looking fresh and beautiful. Hang it carefully in a dress bag and keep it out of the sunlight or extreme temperatures (don't put it in an attic or garage storage, for example). Have the dress cleaned before you put it away, and resist the temptation to try it on or otherwise handle it in the months preceeding your wedding - the body oils are what cause a great deal of the discoloration on a dress. Keep it carefully stored away until just a few months before your wedding for fittings and such, and it should be fine. If the materials are extremely delicate, however, you may want to contact a preservationist for additional advice.
-- Contributed by: Melissa MayntzI have a question regarding my dress. My wedding is going to be in the summer of 2009 and I already bought the dress. How would I preserve it if it's never been worn? Are there any chances of it becoming yellow in the time frame of a year and a half?
Thanks
