Thanks for sharing your tips, Kim! It sounds like you have some fabulous ideas and are doing really well to have a beautiful, creative wedding. Congratulations!
-- Contributed by: Melissa MayntzI found a great dress actually on ebay. It's crimson and has beading...very very beautiful. My search keywords were: black crimson quinceanera gowns. I found lots of very full gowns that didn't have a train, which is great because I am limited to time and very clumsy too. Hope this helps. As far as my flowers go, I am going to get black roses from my local hobby store, and crimson colored glitter, I'm going to dip the tips of the roses in clear glue, then dip the ends into the glitter, that way I can get both colors. If you don't say "Wedding" most salons will do an updo for a decent price, and I rented a theater for my ceremony and reception. It gives it the whole creepy/gloomy theme without my having to decorate a lot. There are a ton of overseas places that will have things for gothic styled weddings, I know it's a distance, but from what I have done, I am finding the prices well below my budget and very good quality. Good luck and congratulations!!!

If you want to buy a ready-made dress, you can look for special occasion dresses instead of straight wedding gowns, or look for high-end costume designers who specialize in gothic attire. Best wishes!
-- Contributed by: Melissa MayntzI'll be getting married in 2010. I know the style and that I want the dress to be and that it's going to be black and red. I'm having problems finding sites that sell anything for a gothic wedding that is good quality though. Any suggestions of where to start?
-- Contributed by: NicholeDawn - It sounds as if you already have some great ideas. You will need to decide if you'd like the guests to dress in costume and give them plenty of notice about that. Costume makeup can be great to help arrange any look, and the key is to have fun with it!
-- Contributed by: Melissa MayntzI'm actually getting married on Oct. 31st of 2008.... (congrats on your 2009 wedding BTW) I am also looking for some ideas.... we're thinking more along the lines of a costume ceremony & reception with the grooms party in a punk look with the bridal party in a goth/punk look.... any ideas would be much appreciated....
-- Contributed by: DawnA coffin shaped cake could be fun, but be sure your guests understand the joke and don't think of your wedding as something to mourn! Have fun with the theme and you're sure to have a memorable event. Best wishes!
-- Contributed by: Melissa MayntzI am going to be planning a gothic style wedding too. What about a coffin shaped wedding cake? Black flowers and lots of candles!
-- Contributed by: JamieJessika - You can always look for prom dresses or other formal dresses that are already black, and have them embellished a bit more to create your wedding dress. That would save you the trouble and expense of dying a detailed dress black!
-- Contributed by: Melissa MayntzI'm getting married as well. on the same date and everything. We are gothic and having a gothic wedding ours is black and red. Thanks for the tips :)! I'm just having a bit of trouble finding a black wedding dress... A friend of mine said I could dye it professionally but is that possible? I mean what kinds of fabrics can be dyed anyway? Well, if you come across any place (or know of a place already) where I can buy a black gown in the u.s. of a. let me know! Thanks!!
-- Contributed by: Jessika C.Brittney - The first question is whether or not you really want to turn away friends and family who want to celebrate your joy but aren't wearing the right colors. If you're adamant about that, be sure to explain in the invitation so they are clear about your expectations. As for ideas, go with what you'd like to celebrate! An entire black and white palette can be lovely, and you can choose unusual decorations or an unusual venue to highlight the gothic theme. Best wishes!
