Cake Accessories

Sometimes all it takes to create that delicious winter wedding cake is a few well-placed accessories. Place the following accessories on or around your cake for a festive, winter theme.

  • Find unusual cake toppers-Forget the traditional wedding toppers and instead look for winter-themed toppers. Snow globes are beautiful and unique toppers for wedding cakes. Crystal or white resin sleds, ceramic or crystal winter scenes, and any other wedding themed accessory you can find might just work perfectly on top of your cake.
  • Bring nature inside-Surround your cake and its table with Mother Nature's treasures. Look for berries, pinecones, holly leaves, poinsettia plants, magnolia leaves, and any other plant or flower that would be appropriate. Because you are serving food, however, you might want to avoid the real thing. Some plants and berries are poisonous.
  • Christmas is near-If it's winter time, then Christmas is near! You can decorate your wedding cake with tiny Christmas presents, wrapped in gold and silver paper, or even add tiny Christmas trees complete with ornaments.
  • Speaking of ornaments-Look for gold, silver, red, or green ornaments in whatever style you prefer to decorate your table and cake. Small, musical, gold or silver instruments look great when they are elegantly clustered together on or around the cake. Simple glass balls are also easy to arrange. Group them with holly leaves and berries for a festive look.
  • Use hand blown crystal toppers-These toppers will become treasured heirlooms for generations to come.
  • Ring those bells-Beautiful silver or gold bells will look gorgeous placed on top and around the wedding cake as well.
  • Add whimsical characters-For a fun, whimsical touch, add cute, winter characters, such as penguins, polar bears, reindeer, etc.

Bonita - I'm sorry, that is from a stock agency photograph and we have no further information about sleigh stand designs. You could, however, create a do-it-yourself design using the photo as a guide, or investigate decorative sleighs that could be converted to wedding cake stands.

Terrie -- I'm sorry, we are not a retail outlet and we do not sell cake stands or other merchandise. That photo is from a stock resource and we have no further information on where to find a similar stand, though you could probably create one fairly easily with supplies from a craft store -- the paper mache reindeer, some garland, etc.
