Wedding Shower Games
Memorable wedding shower games are an important part of throwing the shower that makes it fun for the bride and for the guests. Pick the best ones based on the bride's personality and the guests attending the shower.
Five Wedding Shower Game Ideas
The best wedding shower games are ones where everyone is involved. Each of these games offers guests a chance to participate in the pre-wedding fun.
1. Ice Breaker
When your guests arrive, they probably won't all be acquainted. Rather than create an awkward situation where some sit in silence, play an ice breaker game to get everyone talking. Go around in a circle and have the first guest say her name, where she's from, and her relationship to the bride or groom. The second guest will give her information and repeat the first guest's information. The third guest will give her own stats and then repeat the information from the first two ladies, and so on. By the time all of the guests have said a little something about themselves, everyone in attendance should be much better acquainted.
2. Don't Say It!
Two of the most oft-spoken words at a wedding shower are wedding and bride. This game will give the guests something else to talk about. The host should fill a bowl with clothes pins, Popsicle sticks, marbles or anything else she has in abundance. Guests should be advised not to say the words "wedding" or "bride." Every time these words are uttered, the person who spoke them has to take an item out of the bowl. At the end of the shower, the person with the least amount of items gets a small gift or prize.
3. Wedding Night Words
As the bride opens each gift, the host or a designated guest should sit close by with a pad and paper at the ready. As the bride opens each gift, the designated person writes down her exclamations. "Ooohs," "aahs" and "just what I needed" should all be written down. After all the gifts are open, the designated guest will predict the bride's wedding night words by reading the list out loud. This game games is sure to bring howls of laughter from everyone in attendance.
4. Question and Answer Game
Before the game begins, the bride should write down a series of questions about herself. Each guest will then be given paper and a pen. The bride will read her questions and guests will write down the answers. The lady with the most correct answers gets a small prize or gift. The questions don't have to be anything difficult. Examples include:
- What is my favorite food?
- What is my favorite color?
- What color towels are in my bathroom?
5. Toilet Paper Dress
This is a favorite game for wedding showers. Divide guests into several teams. Each team gets four to six rolls of white toilet paper. Set a timer for 20 minutes. In that time, each team will choose one person to act as a model and use the toilet paper to design a wedding dress. When time is up, guests vote on their favorite design. The winners each get a small prize or gift.
Choose the Right Game
Any of these games can provide fun and laughter at a wedding shower. Choose one or two wedding shower games, being sure to take the preferences of the bride into consideration when making your selections. Explain the rules carefully when it's time to play so that everyone is clear on what is expected. Have fun!
