Stretch Limousine Classifications

Stretch limousines are classified slightly differently by each limo company. Some call the six passenger limos “stretch,” leaving the next size bigger (seating for eight to ten people) to be called the “super stretch.” In fact, some companies even offer a “double stretch” that can seat up to ten to fourteen passengers.

Deciding which kind of stretch you want to rent depends on the size of your bridal party. If you are on the higher end of seating capacity, it may be worth your money to move to the next size up. A limousine with no elbow room will not be fun for anyone.

If you need a limousine that seats more than ten or fourteen, it may be worth your while to look into an SUV or limo bus rental. These are much roomier and can more comfortably fit a large group of people.

Limousine Seating

The seating arrangement in limousines can vary. In the smaller sized versions, six to eight passengers often sit facing each other. In the super stretch and double stretch sizes, you often find a short row along the back of the limo, along one side, and along the partition dividing the back from the driver.

Sometimes the seats are curved to fit around the bar, making it easier for everyone to see and talk with one another. In the more luxury stretch limousines, the seats may be “couch” style. Instead of more separated bucket seats, these have a continuous bench for people to sit on.

Amenities

While each limo company varies with the kinds of amenities offered in its fleet of stretch limousines, you can be sure to find the following as fairly standard:

• Television
• CD player
• DVD player
• Refreshments
• Climate control
• Intercom

Limousine companies will often offer their more luxury limo features for a higher price. Often, these more luxury versions are the super stretch limos. These features can include:

• Mood lighting
• Fog machines
• Marble floors
• Ceiling light displays
• Hot tubs

Some limousine companies offer champagne as complimentary, while for others you must pay for this amenity. A fully stocked bar will often cost extra as well.

Rental Pricing

Call around to different limousine services in your area before making a decision. Remember that ordering a stretch limousine during prom season (March through May), peak wedding season (May through September) or around holidays can often cost extra. Weekends are often more expensive as well.

Pricing often depends on the area of the country you live in. A stretch limo rental in New York City will cost significantly more than one in Nebraska. Keep this in mind if you are planning a destination wedding.

Limousines are often priced by the size and number of amenities. Hourly rates are then given based on the model you chose. You will find a variety of car manufacturers are in the limo business, including:

If you are planning a bachelor or bachelorette party, ask about a discount if you use the limousine service for both events. Specials often apply when you book more than one rental at a time.
