Post Wedding Reception Wording

From LoveToKnow Weddings

Couples who plan a destination wedding or private ceremony will need post wedding reception wording to invite everyone to a party after the formal event.

Invite everyone to a post wedding reception!

Reasons for Post Wedding Receptions

Not everyone can find a wedding date that fits perfectly into their family and friends’ schedules. If the couple’s perfect date does not work, or if they are getting married a long way away from their local friends and family, they may have a post wedding reception.

Other reasons for hosting a reception after the initial ceremony include:

  • Quickie ceremony due to unforeseen circumstances (like an unplanned pregnancy or call to military duty)
  • Weather in the wedding season (or even on the day of) that could make it virtually impossible for guests to attend the reception
  • Private ceremonies, due to personal or religious reasons, that guests will not be allowed to attend
  • The couple chose to elope, and they or their family wants to host a reception as an announcement
  • Illness by someone important to the bridal party, such as the mother of the bride or even the groom

A well-meaning relative or friend may also want to host a post wedding reception for those who could not attend the first wedding and/or reception. Parents can also host the reception, as can the couple themselves.

Post Wedding Reception Wording for Invitations

Whatever the reason a couple may have for a post wedding reception, it is important to come up with wording to let the guests know they will not be attending the actual wedding ceremony.

Printers who specialize in creating invitations can help you come up with the appropriate wording. You can write your own, or even use suggested verses you find on the internet. For some examples, visit the following websites:

You may choose to order reception invites, perhaps online or from the same designer who made your ceremony wedding invitations. Save money and make your own using a wedding invitation kit or do it yourself on the computer.

I am getting married in at a private wedding (simply because that's what I want) but will have a large reception later. Because I am sending out the invites to the reception before I am married, I am providing you with wording different from those examples above. (Divorced, remarried parents hosting).

Tyna and Bert Adams are proud to announce the marriage of their daughter Simone M. Adams to Jeffery D. Walker on the seventh of November in an intimate wedding. You are invited to celebrate their union at a festive celebration on New Year's Eve at 8:00 pm. Location Location address Location City, State -- Contributed by: Simone
