Part of the Parade Wedding Mishap

From LoveToKnow Weddings

Everything about our September outdoor wedding was going as planned - great weather, everything arriving on time, my wife even had time to make all the flowers herself. Everyone was helpful and doing everything they could, so leave it up to my groomsmen to do their best to make sure the wedding came off with a hitch.

We were all going downtown to check into the hotel for the wedding night. Everyone drove to the hotel, threw their things in the rooms and all met downstairs to head over to our wedding site. I had run into some minor trouble getting downtown because of the Riverfest that weekend. Certain roads were blocked off because of an up coming parade.

"Guys, we need to be sure to stay off Fulton Street," I remember saying. They all nodded and we went out to the car. Sure enough, the driver wasn't thinking and I wasn't paying attention, because when we pulled out of the hotel parking lot, we found ourselves in the midst of the Riverfext parade. Floats were in front of and behind us, kids were waving from the street, we were stuck going 5 miles an hour and only an hour until the ceremony started!

At that point, there was nothing to do but to join in the fun and we all rolled down our windows and started waving and acting like we were supposed to be there. One kid even came up and asked for us to throw him some candy. Eventually, we found a sidestreet and a security guard let us out. We were on our way and getting dressed was a little rushed, but the ceremony was perfect and gave us something to laugh about to this day.
