Getting to Know You Games for Bridal Shower

Bridal shower guests will know the bride from various walks of life. What better way to help everyone get to know the couple equally well then by a bridal shower game focusing on their history together? There are several ways of doing this. The first, and quite possibly the most popular, is presented in a trivia format. A series of questions about the bride and groom are printed out on paper for the guests.

Some examples:

  • Where did the couple meet?
  • How did he propose?
  • Where are they going to honeymoon?
  • Where was their first kiss?

These will get the conversation rolling throughout the afternoon, as guests may be amazed or amused by some of the true answers.

Another version of this game is to videotape the groom beforehand. Then, taking a cue from the original Newlywed Game, ask the bride questions about her and her future husband. Then play his videotaped answers to see if they match up. The bride gets a prize for each correct answer, and a gag gift for each wrong one. You can engage all of the guests by inviting them to vote on whether or not each answer will match.

Some bridal shower organizers prefer to work some particularly raunchy questions into the mix, providing plenty of laughs and entertainment. However, before doing this, make sure the bride will be comfortable with being put on such a display and that the guests won’t mind the intimacy.

Bridal Shower Interactive Games and Fun

There are plenty of ways to get party guests out of their seats and engaged in fun bridal shower games. One of the most popular is the bridal gown designing game. After being separated into teams, participants are given either tin foil or rolls of toilet paper. They then take turns “dressing” the bride with these items, designing her a wedding dress or wedding veil. Guests vote on the winning design, often the goofiest or most elaborate.

You can also play Pin the Bowtie on the Groom, or Pin the Underwear on the Groom, if you are feeling more frisky. Word scrambles also get guests competing with a time limit and sometimes hilarious results. Lastly, pass around a list of common purse items, and give guests points for each one they have. The winner gets a prize, or the chance to give the bride the best advice she can think of.

Fun Bridal Shower Games That Create Memories

Leave a lasting note.
Leave a lasting note.

If you are looking for something sweet or nostalgic, consider purchasing a set of note cards and write different life events on the envelopes, such as first vacation, first house, first wedding anniversary, first fight, etc. Place these envelopes with blank cards in a basket and ask a guest at their convenience to fill out a corresponding note. They can give advice, well wishes, or a simple greeting to the bride and groom. The couple will then save the sealed envelopes until these events come up in life, and will read them at the proper time together as a family.

You can also print out a picture of the bride and groom, and have every guest sign it with a metallic marker or other easily seen and permanent writing tool. The couple will cherish this sweet gesture, and it may find a special place in their home.

Fun bridal shower games find their success more in enthusiasm and appropriate execution, rather than in a theme or rule structure. Go in with a fun attitude and plenty of creativity to boot, and you will surely pull off a series of games that are sure to be remembered in the years to come.
