Christmas Wedding Decorations
From LoveToKnow Weddings
Imagine what you can do with Christmas wedding decorations!
Christmas is a festive occasion, a time for family and friends to gather and share in each other’s company. With this in mind, what better time is there to get married than during the Christmas holiday season? Store fronts and homes are decorated in Christmas finery, holiday excitement is in the air, and if things are really going your way, you may even have snow as a backdrop for your special day. The best part of having a Christmas wedding however, is that decorating is a breeze.
The Work is Done for You
If you’re planning a Christmas-time wedding, the decorating is practically done for you! Sure, you can have a wedding planner or caterer handle all of the ornamental details, but because decorating for Christmas is something you’ve done your whole life, you can pretty much do everything yourself. In fact, holiday decorations are inexpensive and so readily available; beautifying the church and place of reception for a yuletide wedding can be done in a manner fitting any budget.
Poinsettias make lovely Christmas wedding decorations for the church, line the aisle with pots of red and white poinsettias and place several at the altar as well. Instead of aisle bows and ribbons, why not use fresh greens? A big red bow can mark the entrance to each pew. Fresh greens can also be wrapped around pillars and draped over railings and balconies. Intertwine small white holiday lights for a merry, yet elegant display and don’t forget candles. (A note of caution however, don’t place candles next to fresh greens or any other flammable décor.)
Trim a Wedding Tree
You can deck the reception hall much in the same manner. A lighted Christmas tree or two will make an elegant focal point for the room and the ornaments can follow the theme or color scheme of your wedding. Christmas wedding decorations can be done for so little money these days too, why, you can even pick up ornaments at the dollar store!
Christmas Wedding Decorations for the Table
Table décor and centerpieces should also follow the holiday theme. Red or green tablecloths will add color, which can be further enhanced by your centerpiece. One option is to purchase a small wreath or two for each table. In the center of each wreath, place a thick, colorful round holiday candle which will be lit just before the reception begins, giving the room an elegant glow. Baskets filled with pinecones or gold and silver or metallic red or green Christmas ornaments will also fit in with your Christmas wedding decoration theme.
Deck the Halls
Drape fresh greens along walls, railings, tables and fireplaces and intertwine these with small white Christmas lights. Fake snow can be sprayed on the corners of the windows for a wintry scene, and small evergreen boughs can be randomly strewn on table tops for color. Since romance is in the air, hang mistletoe in various locations around the room, or at least over the bride and groom’s table.
Gifts
Instead of a gift table, why not incorporate wedding presents into the décor by placing them under one of the Christmas trees? Just don’t forget to have someone take them home when the reception ends! Decorate the wedding cake with small ornaments, ribbons or candy canes; you’re only limited by your imagination. Favors can also reflect the Christmas decoration theme. What guest wouldn’t want to walk away with an elegant engraved Christmas ornament or candle? For an environmentally conscious gift, you can give your guests an evergreen seedling to be taken home and planted.
If your wedding falls during the holiday season, use this to your advantage. Do use Christmas wedding decorations. It’s festive, it’s elegant and your guests will remember it for years to come.
