Cheap Honeymoon
From LoveToKnow Weddings
A cheap honeymoon doesn’t have to mean you’ll be spending your time together in a seedy motel in some no-name town, miles from civilization. Though you're saving money, you can still have a wonderful time. You’ll just need to use a little imagination and creativity.
Camping
Camping has come a long way. Sure, you can still “rough it” if you’re so inclined. You can also rent a campsite or camping cabin and spend much less than you would for a hotel. In the United States alone there are hundreds of breathtaking national parks. What’s more romantic than spending time in front of a roaring campfire or sleeping in front of the stars? Many public and private campgrounds offer accommodations for all budgets. You can pitch a tent streamside or stay in a cabin complete with kitchen, bedroom and living room. Whether your roaring fire is indoors or out, romance is sure to be in the air.
A Cheap Honeymoon in the Caribbean
If you’ll be married during the off season, the months between November and March, you might still be able to vacation in a romantic tropical paradise. Your travel agent can help you find inexpensive travel packages. Whether you’re flying to a Caribbean island or taking a cruise, you’ll be surprised at the savings you’ll accrue when traveling off season.
Honeymoon Registry
Have your heart set on a Hawaiian or European honeymoon but don’t have the funds? Relax. You can still have a cheap honeymoon and go to some incredible places by opening a honeymoon registry. A honeymoon registry works much in the same manner as a wedding gift registry. Guests can register at the website and donate funds for certain components of your honeymoon. For instance, gifts can be donated towards air fare, hotels, dining, clothes or even outings. In lieu of giving appliances or checks folks can assist in the cost of your honeymoon. If most guests contribute, there may be little, if anything, to come out of your own pocket.
Road Trip!
Want to see America? What better way than on a good, old-fashioned road trip. Drive to famous landmarks or off the beaten path to places you’d never experience if you opted for a more “touristy” cheap honeymoon. Make reservations at hotels in advance, or find places to stay as you go.
House Exchange
You have to be a trusting sort to participate in a house exchange, but people do it all the time. Home exchanges allow for you to swap homes with someone in another state or country. Your accommodations are free, you only have to pay to get there, and for your own food. It’s important to register with a reputable home exchange networks, one that carefully screens its clients. You want to vacate with a clear head and not worry about who will be occupying your home.
Ride the Rails
Why not take a train tour? Ride the rails to popular attractions and destinations. See the country without driving and pay less money than flying. Depending on the itinerary, you’ll either have to sleep in a stateroom or in a hotel, and some meals may be eaten in the dining car. For many couples, train travel is more than a cheap honeymoon idea, it’s an exciting way to see the country.
All Inclusive Honeymoon
You can still have a cheap honeymoon and fly to an exotic destination if you go all inclusive. By planning an all inclusive honeymoon, you’ll spend one price for air fare, room accommodations and some meals.
Wait
Who says you have to take your honeymoon immediately after the wedding? Why not wait six months to a year to save up additional money? Take your time and find the best price to the destination of your dreams. Remember, good things come to those who wait.
