Bridesmaid Dress Disaster

From LoveToKnow Weddings

The evening of June 17, 2005 was the perfect time to get married. The ceremony was so beautiful with the sun setting on the mountains and lakes in the background. However, along came a dress disaster, or shall I say five dress disasters.

Five Homemade Dresses

I had my four sisters and my best friend as bridesmaids. To try and save a little money, my mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law to be volunteered to make the bridesmaid dresses. I picked the perfect design and got the measurements for all my girls. However, something went wrong during the process of actually making the dresses. First of all, the dresses were not completed until the day of the wedding. Talk about anxiety! Then when we were all getting dressed for the wedding, we realized my in-laws had taken the identification papers off the dresses. Therefore, no one knew exactly which dress was whose.

Nothing Fit!

Pressed for time, my bridesmaids put the dresses they believed to be their own on. Absolutely no dress fit as it should. Everyone had to have about ten safety pins to make the dresses fit better. Then to top things off, we were all barefoot with crocheted foot things on (my aunt made them). One of my sisters has the ugliest feet I've ever seen. She and another of my sisters, who is quite a bit shorter, had accidentally taken each other's dress. Therefore, the sister with the ugly feet had feet and ankles exposed, while my other sister was walking all over the dress she had on. What is still funny is the taller sister is about two cup sizes larger than the shorter sister and should not have even been able to fit in that sister's dress.
