Bridal Shower Ideas

From LoveToKnow Weddings

Are you looking for some unique bridal shower ideas? Years ago it was unheard of to stray from the norm. Bridal showers were thrown by a close friend or relative and only “the girls” were invited. A few traditional games were played, followed by the opening of the gifts and ending with a bridal shower cake. Times have changed and many hostesses are looking for less in the way of tradition and more in the way of fun. What follows are a sampling of bridal shower ideas.

Jack and Jill Bridal Shower

Bridal showers featuring couples are becoming more commonplace. It’s no longer considered taboo for men to be in attendance. Nowadays showers can be hosted by a couple close to the engaged, with those in attendance being allowed to bring a date as well. This allows for the groom to take part in the festivities. If the bridal party still wishes to host an all female event, they can arrange for a bachelorette party at a later date.

Beach Bridal Shower

If the wedding is going to be held on the beach, a wonderful bridal shower idea is to hold a beach bridal shower. Adorn your guests with leis and decorate with seashells and starfish. Serve seafood and tropical drinks.

Honeymoon Bridal Shower

If the Happy Couple have been living on their own or together for a while, you may be interested in bridal shower ideas not having to do with household gifts. For the couple that has everything, consider a bridal shower with a honeymoon theme. If they’re going to France, have a Parisian bistro theme. If they will be going to Hawaii, have a luau. Instead of purchasing gifts from a wedding gift registry, guests can be encouraged to give from a honeymoon registry. These are becoming more popular, with couples registering for a particular honeymoon and guests giving certain components of the honeymoon such as paying for a hotel stay or a visit to a touristy destination.

Other Bridal Shower Ideas

Lingerie Shower

Another good idea for the couple that has everything. The bride is showered with lingerie and other sexy items for her wedding night, honeymoon and romantic nights with the groom.

Wine & Cheese

Instead of the usual chips and dip, have an elegant wine and cheese event. Visit gourmet cheese shops to find some delicious varieties. Stop in at your local wine emporium afterwards for some complimentary bottles of wine.

Holiday Bridal Shower

If the bridal shower falls on or near a holiday, why not use the holiday as the theme? If the shower is held during the fourth of July weekend, decorate in red, white and blue. If it’s close to Halloween, choose a scary theme. And what can be better than a Christmas themed bridal shower with all the glitter and greenery?

Ethnic Bridal Shower

If the bride or groom is of a particular ethnicity, this can be incorporated into the theme as well. Decorate for an Asian themed shower in bold red, or use more subdued tones to celebrate the Mediterranean. No doubt family members are sure to approve of a shower celebrating their heritage.
