Beach Wedding Centerpiece
From LoveToKnow Weddings
Carry the atmosphere of your beachside wedding into the reception by having beach wedding centerpieces on your tables.
Ideas for Making Your Own Beach Wedding Centerpiece
Making centerpieces can save you money and time. Materials for making most beach wedding reception centerpieces include:
- Sand
- Seashells
- Coral or flowers
- Ribbon
- Water
- Candles
Additional materials may be required, but if you know you want a candle somewhere in the design, you can begin shopping early for sales at discount and hobby stores.
Below are some easy centerpieces you can make out of relatively few materials and with little labor involved.
Glass Bowl Centerpieces
Small glass bowls can be filled with sand. Top them with an assortment of seashells or place a large flower in the center.
Put enough sand or pebbles to cover an inch high over the bottom of the bowl. Add a tall candle in blue, seafoam, or white.
Tint water blue and pour over pebbles or glass rocks in a small bowl. Add floating candles in the shape of fish. If you use very small bowls, make a tight circle in the middle of the table and use the same amount of bowls as there will be guests seated at the table. Then your centerpiece can double as beach wedding favors.
Candles
Purchase candles with seashells in them all ready (or make your own). Place in a small holder on top of a mirrored surface.
Spread sand down the center of a long table (usually best to do this for an outdoor reception). Scatter tea lights and seashells throughout the sand table runner.
Make an arrangement of three to five tapered candles in varying height in small fish tanks. Decorate around the candles using tank accessories.
Beach Toys
Fill small plastic pails in your wedding colors halfway with sand. Put a small shovel or two in them.
Cut a plastic beach ball open and spread out. Trim it to fit in the center of a square, rectangle, or round table. Add child-sized flip flops, sunglasses, and small water toy on top of it.
Simply place sand castle molds in the center of your tables, atop a folded beach towel that is in your wedding color(s).
Purchasing Beach Centerpieces
If you envision complicated or large centerpieces, you may want to purchase them. Your florist or reception coordinator may be able to help design and make the centerpieces you would like.
You may want to consider using flowers native to the area you are getting married in, and accent with floral decorations in your wedding colors. This can save money over having fresh flowers brought in. Alternatively, you can order beach centerpieces in silk flowers that require no special care or labor.
Sometimes, it is just easier to buy centerpieces than make them. You may be pressed for time or have two left thumbs when it comes to crafts. Whatever the reason, you will be sure to find the look you want. The following retailers offer beach themed centerpieces:
- SheaShells SeaShells—Order large arrangements featuring driftwood, starfish, sunflowers, margarita glasses and more. The prices range between seventy to over one hundred dollars per centerpiece.
- BridalPeople—Get two trios of sailboat tea lights for under seventy-five dollars. They stand 7, 6, and 5 inches high and would look great grouped together on a table with extra room in the middle.
- Moments of Elegance—Pairs of tiki torches stand a foot high and cost around seventeen dollars.
- Candy Under Cover.com—Take care of your centerpiece and favors in one sweep with these shaped and decorated cookies in a sun and fun theme. Priced at under fifty dollars, they do take up to two weeks to arrive.
- Affectionately Yours—This cute birdhouse is shaped like a beach bar. It is only eight dollars for one.
- Party Solver.com—Get a beach ball centerpiece for under two dollars. This affordable centerpiece works great if you have a lot of small tables or a large guest list.
Tying Together Your Beach Theme
Your beach wedding centerpiece will help tie together your beach-themed wedding. Other things you can do to make your wedding more thematic include:
- Ordering beach wedding invitations.
- Wearing sandals on the beach or at the ceremony site.
- Making your wedding colors ocean blue, coral, or seafoam green.
- Having favors like sunglasses or beach balls.
- Asking the wedding DJ or band to play a variety of summer songs, such as those from the Beach Boys.
Even if your beach themed wedding does not take place on an actual beach, you can do a lot with your beach wedding decorations to bring the seaside to your wedding guests.
