How do you dress bridesmaids that are a bunch of different sizes? I had girls who ranged from a size 2/4 to a size 18. I ended up going with basic black spaghetti dresses that flowed into a simple A-line skirt with no waist.

Another suggestion I’ve heard is corset dresses or to let the women pick their own tops.

I had bridesmaids from all over my state, so I chose a color at David’s Bridal and told them to choose their own style. It was a great way to get a color match without worrying about getting everyone together at one time or anyone feeling uncomfortable in a dress that I chose without seeing it on them. The stores are everywhere, so I just found out when they would need to be ordered by and let the girls know the deadline. My maid-of-honor was the last to choose her dress, so I went with her and made sure she got something a little more remarkable than the other dresses.

Since I had a very small wedding party, this wasn’t as much as an issue for me, but I love both the idea of choosing a more universally flattering style (like the A-line dresses) or letting bridesmaids choose their dress style from the same color family. I think it is great when brides are concerned with their bridesmaids looking and feeling their best.

Crystal, did you have any concerns about your bridesmaids choosing a style that didn’t fit with your wedding, or were you pretty comfortable your bridesmaids choose?

I was pretty comfortable with what they would choose, though I didn’t see many styles at David’s Bridal that wouldn’t really fit in with the wedding. I may have asked for them to choose long dresses, but that’s it. I don’t think any of them would’ve chosen shorter styles anyway. I only had two bridesmaids and then my MOH. As long as the colors matched, I thought it would all work out. And actually, my colors didn’t match because I had a little fiasco with one of my bridesmaids. I ended up having to find someone else to stand in her place at the last minute (as in, 2 days before). She happened to have a red prom dress (no time for David’s Bridal). The red wasn’t exactly the right shade, but you can’t tell in the pictures. So after all of that, it still worked out. LOL
