Did you wear hosiery or tights when you were a bridesmaid? I got married in the winter, and told my bridesmaids they could if they wanted to, but didn’t have to. None of them ended up wearing hosiery. As the bride, I’m glad I didn’t, because I ended up sweating in my dress anyway! I’ve been a bridesmaid twice, and I didn’t wear hose in either of those weddings.

So, have you worn hosiery as a bridesmaid? Why or why not?

For me, hosiery is a more formal thing that I think is appropriate for a wedding, but it does depend on the formality of the situation and the style of dress you’re wearing. As you said, it can be really hot under a long dress, and what’s the point - no one will see it anyway! On the other hand, if it were a late fall or winter wedding, the hosiery might be another welcome layer. I most likely would/will wear hosiery, unless requested otherwise (as in, the bride doesn’t want any of the girls to wear it, so it’s a matching look), or unless it’s inappropriate - it wouldn’t work well for a more casual beach wedding, for example. I can’t imagine that sand and hosiery would be that much fun!
