Do you watch wedding related reality television shows? There are quite a few out there—some focus on the dress, others focus on cake, still others on planning the entire wedding.

What do you like about the shows? What don’t you like?

I admit, I love watching these television shows. Even if I can’t recreate the wedding (since mine has long gone and many of the budgets are really high on these programs!), it’s still fun to see the elaborate decorations and ideas for receptions, food, and styles.

I haven’t had cable in years (not enough good on to justify it), but I’ve occasionally watched some of the different wedding shows. They always seemed a good place to get planning and creative ideas, but you’re right, the budgets are often a lot higher than most couples might be happy spending! Still, with a good idea you can usually adapt it for a smaller budget if you’re thoughtful about it.

I did enjoy the show Bridezillas, showing just how far off the deep end some brides can go. Crazy stuff, but fun!

I tend to watch shows that coincide with my life.  When I was getting married I watched a lot of the wedding shows.  When I was pregnant I watched all the baby shoes.  When I bought my house I watched HGTV.  Okay, so I still watch HGTV.  Every once in awhile I watch the wedding bloopers shows.  They are pretty fun to watch.

You’re absolutely right, Christine, the bloopers can be fun to watch. A lot of them seem to revolve around people falling over (fainting at the alter, tripping to get the bouquet, etc.) but there have been some really funny ones.
