We didn’t have any young kids in our wedding party for several reasons. However, a lot of people like to have special nieces, nephews or friends of the family take part in their special day. When it came to the attire, how did you handle picking out the actual clothing? Did you let the parents pick out black dress pants and a suit jacket for the ring bearer and a plain dress for the flower girl in a matching color (or white?)? Or, did you have them rent/buy a matching outfit that went with the bridal party’s attire? Why did you choose the particular option? |

We wouldn’t have had any children in our wedding party either, but if we had, we’d have picked their attire ourselves to ensure the look of the whole bridal party was coordinated. That said, I’d have wanted to give the parents a couple of options, and I’d have chosen something that’s less expensive (you can’t really argue that the kids will be able to wear it again, as they’ll outgrow it too fast!). Another option, though, is for the parents to choose something relatively classic and plain, and for the bride and groom to give them the necessary matching accessories—such as a colored sash for the flower girl to match the bridal party colors. This can help cut expenses but still have a nice matching look. |
