Did you have a unity ceremony as part of your wedding ceremony, and if so, which one did you choose? I know unity candles (where the mothers or parents may light the “family” candles, which the couple uses to light their own central candle) are the most popular, but I’ve seen other lovely options as well, including… *Sand Ceremonies - mixing colored sands into a clear container, and they cannot be easily separated. This also becomes a really attractive decoration for the couple’s new home. This is especially meaningful when you use a base of sand meaningful to the couple for the bottom of the container - such as from the beach where they’re getting married or where they got engaged, if appropriate. *Wine Ceremonies - the couple each pours wine into a goblet as they speak their vows as part of the ceremony, then they help each other to sip the combined wine - shows how they’ll always support and provide for one another. To make this more meaningful, choose wine from that year, or from the year the couple got engaged, or another date that is significant. What other types of unity ceremonies have you seen, and would you want to incorporate them into your vows? |
