Who Helped Pick Your Wedding Dress?

I know that most brides don’t go to the bridal shop alone - it’s always helpful to have someone you trust along with you to offer opinions or take photos so you can compare them later. Who came along with you, or who would you like to come and help? Mothers, sisters, the maid of honor, and grandmothers are always popular helpers, but do you have someone different in mind? Why would you want them helping you?

Also, did you feel obligated to have anyone specific help? I know some brides feel their mothers have to help (if only because they’ve offered to help with the budget!), but their tastes may not coincide and that can be pretty tense. If this was the case with you, how did you cope with it? What tips can you offer? Please share!

I was so excited to go dress shopping, I took anyone and everyone who agreed to go with me! LOL.

I went with my best friend the first time; two bridesmaids the second. The last time, I brought my best friend, my sister and 2 of my sister’s friends from college who I’d just met that day. When the group of us got to the salon, I told the four girls to pick out two-three dresses each and that I’d try them ALL on. I think I tired on almost 20 dresses that day. This was because I wanted to try things out of my normal comfort zone in order to be sure of what I wanted. I also let the salesclerk pick out a few things she thought I’d like.

I picked out two dresses and then my parents came to the salon. My mom, to be honest, did *not* like my first choice. (She thought it was too plain.) Therefore, I went with the second choice.

I will pick my big day dress myself. Even i am have selected my sister’s wedding dress. she is going to marry next month.
