How do you feel about bridesmaid dresses with a lot of white/ivory in them? Examples might range from: Black seems to be pretty common these days, despite historically being a “no-no” color for weddings. Yet white/ivory/off white dresses still seem to be shunned for bridesmaids. Personally, I think white or ivory dresses with a brightly colored sash or bolero could look stunning. What’s your take? |

I think white or ivory can be a grand choice for bridesmaids, provided there can be no confusing the bridesmaids’ dresses with actual wedding gowns. The easiest way to do this is for the bride to have a full-length gown with a train, but the bridesmaids wear much shorter dresses (knee or tea length) without as much embellishment. I also like the simple gowns with sashs. One type of wedding color scheme that would be just gorgeous is for the bride to wear a richly colored dress (all colored, not just white with colored accents) and for the bridesmaids to be in white instead. Then, the bride can carry a white bouquet that will stand out beautifully against her dress, while the bridesmaids carry colored bouquets. Inverting the colors like that can be very striking! |
