Idea of average wedding cake cost?

What is the average cost for a 3 tier wedding cake with beaded borders and dots? Either fondant or buttercream?

Hi Cece,

The price for a wedding cake like the one you described is going to vary greatly depending on not only the area you live in, as Olga pointed out, but also by the bakery you choose. Upscale bakeries that use high-end ingredients are going to have higher costs per slice than a grocery store wedding cake.

Additionally, you'll want to make sure the three tier cake you have in mind has enough servings for all your guests. The cake you describe could be three tiers consisting of a 12 inch, 10 inch and 8 inch layers or 10 inch, 6 inch and 4 inch layers, which changes the price and serving amount. Fondant generally costs more than buttercream.

WeddingStats.com says the average cost of a wedding cake is around $590. Of course, this includes everything from the simplest cake to the most elaborate.

To find out what prices are in your area, call your top two to three bakeries and ask to meet with them. They will be able to give you a better idea of what the cost will be for the design you desire.

It depends how many people you need to feed; average price for 50-75 servings $200, 75-100 servings around $300, 150-200 for $400, not included tops & flowers and etc. South Florida prices.
